Dr. Michelle Prashad,
PhD, LMHC, MCAP
MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR
Michelle Prashad, License Mental Health Counselor and Master Certified Addiction Professional working in substance use and co-occurring disorders. Her passions as a Mental Health Counselor, extends to motivating, communicating and advocating for clients dealing with mental and emotional disorders.
She earned a master’s in Educational Psychology where she concentrated on the school systems and Special Education needs from Andrews University and a second Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.
She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at Barry University with a specialization in marriage and family counseling. Her interests include teaching in the field of Mental Health and advocating for those in need of services who face limited access to services as well as a stigma in seeking help. She is particularly interested in focusing on substance use and dependence and its impact on family systems and on advocating for individuals caught in the cycle of substance use.
She enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures and people. She has a respect for life and understands that “I am not in this world to live up to other people’s expectations, nor do I feel that the world must live up to mine.” (Fritz Perls).
